For Kippenross’ first house morning we had a Busy Bee Day when we did the ‘Save the Honey Bees Project’. We started off by getting a talk from Mr Goulson from Stirling University. He set up the Bee Conservation Trust. He told us that the girl bees do all the hard work! Then we split up into three groups, to do three different activities. The activities were making bees from egg cartons, making bee finger puppets, and playing a game like build a beetle, but not beetles, bees. Before that though, we made an Action Plan on what to do to save the bees, which included handing out seeds of plants which honey bees like, such as Chive, Foxglove and Lavender. Bees are dying out because there are not enough flowers for htem in gardens and fields anymore. If you could please, please, PLEASE try to plant some of these in your garden. It would be a really big help. Everyone really enjoyed the first house morning, and we can’t wait to continue the project at the next house morning.
