On the 6th of December Olympic gold medallist Tim Baillie visited St Mary’s assembly. He gave us a talk about what it was like being an Olympic athlete and he let us touch his gold medal! After his presentation I interviewed him about his Olympic career and the ups and downs he had. Have you ever had any injuries? “Yes, … This term the whole school have been putting together Advent Assemblies. Every single child in the school takes part. This is something new to St Mary’s and it has been extremely successful. We start the Assembly with a song that the choir have been practising and then we light our REACH candles. A different person lights the candles and says … P6/7 have had an exciting past few weeks when Angela Hunter came to the school to give the senior pupils dance workshop sessions. The workshops are called “Think Dance” and every Wednesday P6/7 make their way down to the hall to practice and learn new dance skills. They were told to choreograph a dance on the theme of detectives – … On the 26th October Hamish, Archie, Laura, Duncan, Dugald, Murdo and Molly set off to Tillicoultry for a school skiing competition. Other primary and secondary schools from around Stirling also competed. It was pretty cold in the morning. There were a lot of people there. They all participated in a long warm up before the competition started. When the races … There has been a new buddy bench put in the school play ground. It’s for people that want to sit down. It was on the 11th of October that we got it. It was paid for by Dunblane Hilton Community Fund. Loads of people love to sit on it. Every time I walk past it I see someone sitting with … At the end of last term Mr and Mrs Moore unveiled a plaque in the minister’s garden describing the special oak tree behind it. The tree is a Pyrenean Mountain Oak, a rare tree that is found in the Pyrenean Mountains in Spain. There are only a few in Scotland. Mr and Mrs Moore planted the oak fifteen years ago … In the new master classes some of the pupils in primary 4 to 7 went to the peak to learn how to Curl. They were given a quick safety brief, got a Curling brush and went straight onto the ice. The group of the pupils were told to put bags on their shoes to help them slide easier. The instructors … |
